JULIE MACK & Encantada

The Julie Mack Trio or Quartet (or an ensemble of any size from duo to large group) presents swinging jazz, blues, and American Songbook standards, with French, Brazilian and Latin songs adding international flair to Julie's signature blend, ideal music for private events, clubs, restaurants and festivals, including shows at the Mid-Atlantic Jazz Festival and Twins Jazz.

Encantada is Julie's Brazilian band, offering polished, high-energy shows combining sultry bossa nova with classic, propulsive samba and baiao rhythms that bring the audience to their feet.  Julie sings in the original Portuguese and tells the audience the song's story or adds English versions to make this truly "enchanting" music accessible to all.  Most often a quartet, Encantada can appear as a duo, trio or a larger ensemble, either as a featured band for a concert, or as background music at events, restaurants or clubs calling for Brazilian and Latin jazz rhythms. In addition to Julie's vocals and hand percussion, Encantada draws upon the best Brazilian and Latin players in the Washington, DC area.

Since 2010, the Julie Mack / David Jernigan Duo has performed at art openings, restaurants, clubs and private events in Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia, including the Takoma Park Jazz Festival, Little Salon, Foundry Gallery, Gallery B, Artomatic, 87 Florida, Gallery Neptune, the Blackwall Hitch and Black Fox Lounge; and at the concert series of Anderson House (Society of the Cincinnati) on Embassy Row.

As a chamber jazz voice/bass duo they explore an array of music spanning from the Renaissance to the present day in genres ranging from Brazilian to Broadway to Bebop.

As an acoustic voice/guitar duo they're available for your wine bar, brewery, restaurant or event, performing a blend of Brazilian, jazz, and favorite pop songs with style, sass, and soul, with Julie on percussion and David contributing vocals.
